Free Yard and Bulk Waste Disposal Program to End

Historically residents in the City of Eau Claire, Altoona, and some surrounding towns have had access to free bulk item and yard waste disposal twice a year. This service was offered for free by waste haulers for many years. However, due to the increased costs of disposal and in an effort to reduce landfill bound waste, this free program will not continue into 2024.

What to do with Bulk items

Residents may schedule a special curbside pick-up with their hauler for a fee.

Contact your hauler for pricing. GFL Environmental customers will have an opportunity to drop off one item at the transfer station (3010 Mondovi Road, Eau Claire) this spring for free from April 15-19. Please contact GFL for more details. Many items traditionally disposed of during the bulk item pick-up could be recycled or diverted from the landfill.

For information on other disposal options in Eau Claire County visit:

Yard Waste:

All Eau Claire County residents have access to the City of Eau Claire brush site located at 5710 Jeffers Road, Eau Claire.

Those who reside outside of the City are not eligible for a season pass and will use the "pay as you go" rates. For more information visit: Brush Disposal | City of Eau Claire, Wisconsin (eauclairewi.gov)

City of Altoona residents can also utilize the Altoona brush site. More information can be found at: https://www.ci.altoona.wi.us/residents.phtml/brush_disposal/#brush_disposal

Earthbound Environmental Solutions: Earthbound will continue to collect yard waste year-round from both their current customers (those paying for regular curbside waste collection service) as well as non-customers.

For the 2024 Spring Bulk Yard Waste collection, which Earthbound has set for the week of May 6th-10th
, those participating in Earthbound's regular curbside services will be allowed to place up to 10 bags at their curb free of charge. The 2024 Fall Bulk Yard Waste collection is scheduled for the week of November 11th-15th with customers allowed to place up to 5 bags at their curb free of charge.

For those who are not current customers, but would like to have yard waste collected curbside, information and pricing can be obtained by emailing: office@earthboundenviro.com.

Fall Creek, Augusta, and Village of Fairchild residents: Bulk item and yard waste programs will continue. Please contact your municipality for details.
