The GIS Division assigns addresses to existing and new structures in all Townships, City of Altoona, and Village of Fairchild. In order to locate people in emergency situations and to facilitate postal delivery, every residence and place of business in Eau Claire County has been and must be assigned an address.

How to Obtain an Address

Where will the structure be accessed from?

Town Road:
1. Contact the appropriate Town where the new structure is to be constructed. 
2. The Town issues a Driveway Access Permit (the town of Bridge Creek has contracted with the Eau County Highway Department).
3. Complete an Eau Claire County Property Address Application.
4. Submit the completed application, as well as a copy of the driveway permit, a scaled site plan, and the application fee.
5. The GIS Division assigns a new address and notifies the appropriate parties.

County Highway:
1. Contact the Eau Claire Highway Department.
2. Work with the Highway Department to obtain driveway access approval.

3. Complete an Eau Claire County Property Address Application. 
4. Submit the completed application, as well as a copy of the driveway permit, a scaled site plan, and the application fee.
5. The GIS Division assigns a new address and notifies the appropriate parties.

State Highway or U.S. Highway:
1. Contact the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (715-836-2891).
2. Work with the Wisconsin DOT to obtain driveway access approval. 
3. Complete an Eau Claire County Property Address Application. 
4. Submit the completed application, as well as a copy of driveway permit, a scaled site plan, and the application fee.
5. The GIS Division assigns a new address and notifies the appropriate parties.

City of Altoona or Augusta:
1. Contact the appropriate City where the new structure is to be constructed. 
                              Altoona: 715-839-6092    Augusta: 715-286-2555
2. The City will issue all other permits.
3. Complete an Eau Claire County Property Address Application. 
4. Submit the completed application, as well as a copy of driveway permit, a scaled site plan, and the application fee.
5. The GIS Division assigns a new address and notifies the appropriate parties.

Village of Fairchild:
 1. Contact the Village where the new structure is to be constructed:   
      (715-334-3002).
2. The Village will issue all other permits.
3. Complete an Eau Claire County Property Address Application.
4. Submit the completed application, as well as a copy of driveway permit, a scaled site plan, and the application fee.
5. The GIS Division assigns a new address and notifies the appropriate parties.
